Hours: Monday to Friday 08.30-16.30, 30 hrs - 37.5 hrs

Pay rate: From £25.60

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the maternity ultrasound department at The George Elliot Hospital for an experienced Sonographer to join their dynamic and welcoming team.

The Trust is delighted to offer this opportunity to an enthusiastic and motivated individual who is high profile, accessible and a responsive leader with staff, service and resource responsibility. You will be able to make informed decisions within your own area and scope of professional practice and will support the other midwifery sonographers in the provision of a professional ultrasound service.

To be successful in this role you will need:

  • Degree - postgraduate certificate in medical ultrasound.
  • Current professional midwifery registration
  • Previous NHS experience
  • Competent in undertaking all aspects of obstetric scanning, NT anomaly, growth, placental location, transvaginal scan and uterine artery doppler

Role Details:

  • The role of the post holder is to perform and report independently on all scans undertaken. This will include the whole range of obstetric scans including 1 st trimester screening, anomaly scans, growth, liquor volume and Doppler placentography including transvaginal scanning as well as obstetric scans that may be necessary during pregnancy.
  • You may, at times, be required to communicate potentially distressing diagnosis directly to expectant parents and refer these patients appropriately.
  • You will be responsible for writing reports for the medical profession and keeping appropriate records.
  • You will be involved in the clinical training of ultrasound trainees and junior doctors or medical students.
  • You may also be expected to supervise newly qualified members of staff. You will also be expected to maintain your CPD and take part in other developmental activities as require
