Location

Clevedon, North Somerset. Successful candidate will either already live in Bristol or

North Somerset or be in the process of moving here. Predominant in-office presence

to provide guidance and support to colleagues in person will be expected.

Job Description

The Solar PV Designer will be responsible for designing PV system designs, mounting

systems, stringing arrangements, instructing surveys, planning applications, grid

connection applications, refining system proposals and generally knowing and

advising on the whole gamut of solar PV and energy storage systems. This role

involves working closely with salespeople, operational delivery teams and external

customers to ensure designs meet needs of feasibility and profitability, and comply

with the current regulations and standards in the UK.

Responsibilities

1. Designing PV systems , particularly industrial and agricultural.

2. Preparing single-line diagrams, equipment layouts, and shading analyses.

3. Performing system performance evaluations and yield calculations.

4. Preparing and reviewing detailed drawings and specifications for construction

projects, according to engineering sketches and design proposal specifications.

5. Assisting with permit submission and coordinating with utility companies for grid

7. Keeping up to date with the latest design software, PV technologies and UK

8. Providing technical support and training to other team members.

Qualifications and experience

1. Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, renewable energy, or a related field,

preferably from a BSc or similarly scientific or technical program.

2. Minimum 3-5 years of experience designing solar PV systems, in which time they

will have designed to installation and completion dozens if not hundreds of such

systems in the UK.

3. Candidates must have the right to work in the UK.

4. Proficiency in using CAD and PV*Sol software.

5. Understanding of the rules around the IET Code of Practice for Grid Connected

Solar PV Systems, and similar codes for both solar PV and energy storage systems

6. Will be able to demonstrate ability in predominantly the commercial sector, but

also the residential sector.

7. String knowledge of the MCS standards and tools.

8. Excellent knowledge of UK building regulations and industry standards.

9. Strong understanding of PV system components and their specifications.

10. Exceptional analytical and problem-solving abilities.

11. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.

12. Excellent communication skills, in English, with the ability to explain complex

technical information clearly.
