Sociology Teacher

Salary Range: MPR/UPR

Location: Crawley

Job Type: Full-time

We are seeking a dedicated Sociology Teacher to join this fantastic school team and contribute to their ethos of providing high-quality education and promoting the welfare of our students. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging physics lessons and fostering a positive learning environment. This is a one term temporary role for the Autumn Term 2024. 

Day-to-day of the role:

  • Plan and prepare lessons and resource materials, ensuring a differentiated curriculum that meets all students’ needs.
  • Monitor and assess student achievement, setting and marking homework in line with school policy.
  • Prepare reports for parents, attend Parents’ Evenings, and engage in additional communication as necessary to support student achievement.
  • Maintain high standards in record-keeping, making data available for review by Senior Managers and Heads of Department.
  • Differentiate work to meet individual needs and promote equal opportunities.
  • Ensure the safety and welfare of students during lessons.
  • Register classes promptly and supervise students at all times.
  • Mark and return students’ work with constructive feedback, promoting high standards of content and presentation.
  • Address any concerns with student achievement and take appropriate action.
  • Support and collaborate with colleagues, contributing to professional development and curriculum area reviews.
  • Maintain a well-organized classroom environment, promoting the use of student work displays to encourage and celebrate success.
  • Attend staff meetings, INSET activities, and support whole school events.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) in Sociology or a related subject.
  • Commitment to inclusive education and safeguarding students’ welfare.
  • Experience in planning, delivering, and assessing physics lessons.
  • Ability to differentiate materials and teaching methods to cater to diverse learning needs.
  • Strong organisational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in using educational technology and school management systems, such as SIMS.
  • A proactive approach to professional development and contributing to the wider school community.
