Looked after children team

£20-£26 per hour

Duties:

  • Assessment and Planning: Conduct thorough assessments of children's needs, strengths, and risks, working closely with the child, their family, and other professionals. Develop and implement comprehensive care plans tailored to each child's unique circumstances.
  • Placement Support: Coordinate and monitor placements for looked after children, ensuring their safety, stability, and well-being. Provide support to foster families, residential care providers, and other caregivers to promote positive outcomes for children.
  • Advocacy: Act as a strong advocate for looked after children, ensuring their voices are heard and their rights are upheld. Represent their best interests in meetings, court proceedings, and other forums, working collaboratively with relevant stakeholders.
  • Support and Intervention: Offer direct support and intervention to children and families facing challenges such as abuse, neglect, trauma, or family breakdown. Provide counselling, guidance, and practical assistance to promote resilience and positive coping strategies.
  • Multi-Agency Collaboration: Work collaboratively with colleagues from various disciplines, including health professionals, educators, law enforcement, and community organisations. Coordinate services and interventions to address the complex needs of looked after children and their families.
  • Monitoring and Review: Regularly review and evaluate the effectiveness of interventions and support plans, making adjustments as necessary to ensure children's needs are met and their progress is monitored.
  • Record Keeping and Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with statutory requirements and organisational policies.
  • Continuous Professional Development: Engage in ongoing training and professional development activities to enhance your knowledge and skills in areas such as child protection, trauma-informed practice, and therapeutic interventions.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • A recognised social work qualification and relevant professional registration.
  • Experience working with children and families in a social care setting.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Commitment to promoting the rights and well-being of looked after children.
