Job Description:

We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Permanence Social Worker to join our team in Leicestershire. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of permanency planning and adoption processes, as well as a passion for advocating for the best interests of children in care. As a Permanence Social Worker, you will play a crucial role in assessing, planning, and implementing permanency plans for children, ensuring they have the opportunity to grow and thrive in safe, loving, and permanent families.

Responsibilities:

  1. Conduct comprehensive assessments of children and families involved with the child welfare system, including their strengths, needs, and risks, to inform permanency planning decisions.
  2. Develop and implement permanency plans for children in care, including reunification with birth families, adoption, kinship care, and long-term fostering, in accordance with legal and regulatory requirements.
  3. Work collaboratively with children, families, caregivers, and partner agencies to develop and implement plans that promote the best interests of the child and support their emotional, physical, and developmental well-being.
  4. Provide ongoing support and guidance to children and families throughout the permanency planning process, addressing any concerns or barriers that may arise and advocating for needed services and resources.
  5. Facilitate family finding and matching processes for children awaiting adoption, ensuring that prospective adopters are carefully assessed and matched with children based on their individual needs and preferences.
  6. Prepare comprehensive reports and documentation for court proceedings, reviews, and other legal processes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to deadlines.
  7. Work closely with legal representatives, guardians ad litem, and other professionals involved in the child's case to ensure effective communication and coordination of services.
  8. Participate in case conferences, team meetings, and training opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills related to permanency planning and adoption.
  9. Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all interactions, assessments, and interventions in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory standards.
  10. Stay informed about relevant legislation, policies, and best practices in the field of child welfare and permanence, applying this knowledge to inform practice and advocacy efforts.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Social Work from an accredited institution.
  • Registration with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) as a qualified Social Worker.
  • Previous experience working in permanence social work, preferably within a child welfare or adoption agency.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
  • Knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures related to child welfare, permanency planning, and adoption.
  • Commitment to promoting the best interests and well-being of children in care.
