Job Opportunity: Family Safeguarding Social Worker

Position: Family Safeguarding Social Worker
Location: Bury Council
Contract: Temporary
Salary: £39 per hour (agency position)

About the Role: As a Family Safeguarding Social Worker, you will work closely with families facing complex challenges to assess their needs, strengths, and risks, and develop and implement tailored support plans to ensure the safety and well-being of children. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work within a supportive team environment and make a meaningful impact on families' lives.

Responsibilities:

  • Conducting comprehensive assessments of families' needs and risks, using evidence-based tools and approaches.
  • Developing and implementing robust safeguarding plans in collaboration with families, professionals, and partner agencies.
  • Providing direct support, guidance, and advocacy to families, empowering them to address issues and achieve positive outcomes.
  • Working collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams, including health professionals, schools, and voluntary organizations, to coordinate holistic support for families.
  • Participating in case conferences, child protection meetings, and court proceedings as required, presenting evidence and recommendations.
  • Maintaining accurate and up-to-date records of assessments, interventions, and outcomes in line with statutory requirements and organizational policies.
  • Contributing to service development and improvement initiatives, sharing knowledge, expertise, and best practice with colleagues and stakeholders.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker registered with Social Work England.
  • Previous experience working within children's safeguarding or family support services, with a solid understanding of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
  • Strong assessment, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage effectively with families from diverse backgrounds.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively as part of a multidisciplinary team, managing a complex caseload and prioritizing workload effectively.
  • Commitment to promoting the rights, safety, and well-being of children and families, with a strengths-based and family-centered approach.
  • Full driving license and access to own vehicle for work-related travel (where applicable).
