Job Title: Social Worker - Children in Care Team

Location: Barnsley Council

Contract Type: Agency (via Ackerman Pierce)

Hourly Rate: £35 per hour

About Us: Join our dedicated Children in Care Service, a 0-18 team committed to promoting the well-being, life chances, and outcomes of children and young people in our community. We are seeking passionate Social Workers who are dedicated to making a positive difference in the lives of Children in Care. This agency role, facilitated by Ackerman Pierce, offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the welfare of children while enjoying competitive compensation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage a caseload of approximately 18-20 children and young people within the Children in Care system.
  • Provide comprehensive support and intervention to children and young people, promoting their well-being and positive outcomes.
  • Conduct assessments, develop care plans, and review progress in collaboration with children, families, and relevant stakeholders.
  • Undertake adoption casework, including family finding, matching, and progression to adoption orders.
  • Work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams and external agencies to coordinate services and support for children and families.
  • Advocate for the rights and best interests of children and young people, ensuring their voices are heard in decision-making processes.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, adhering to data protection and confidentiality standards.
  • Participate in regular supervision, training, and professional development activities to enhance practice and knowledge.

Requirements:

  • Qualified Social Worker with HCPC registration.
  • Demonstrated experience and passion for working with Children in Care.
  • Strong assessment, intervention, and case management skills.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and collaborative abilities.
  • Ability to manage a challenging workload effectively and prioritize tasks.
  • Commitment to promoting the well-being and rights of children and young people.
