Social Work Team Manager - Assessment and Intervention

Annual Salary: Up to £51,515 with a £2,000 retention payment

Location: Oldham

We are seeking a Social Work Team Manager to provide leadership and management to a team of dedicated social work and social care staff. This role is pivotal in coordinating team activities to ensure a flexible, reliable, and responsive service to Service Users, Carers, and Families. The successful candidate will contribute strategically to the development of the Service and uphold our values of fairness, openness, responsibility, working together, accountability, respect, and democracy.

Day to Day of the Role:

Lead and manage a team, including recruitment, selection, inductions, and staff appraisals.

Allocate and monitor work to ensure it meets expected standards and support staff professional development.

Manage budgets and resources effectively, including approving funding for Care & Support Plans.

Ensure high-quality service delivery through needs-led assessment, implementation, monitoring, and review of Care & Support Plans.

Provide specialist expertise and guidance, particularly in crisis situations and for Service Users with acute and complex needs.

Monitor and evaluate contracts for care packages and maintain high data quality on social care systems.

Advocate on behalf of Service Users, Carers, and Families within policy boundaries.

Build and maintain relationships with internal and external stakeholders and work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary setting.

Chair meetings, coordinate activities, and contribute to audits and inspections of the Service.

Develop and monitor Quality Assurance standards and contribute to strategic business planning.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

A Social Work Degree or equivalent recognised Social Work Qualification, e.g., DipSW.

Registration with Social Work England.

Experience in managing and motivating staff, providing formal supervision, and developing team skills.

Experience in ensuring person-centred Care & Support Plans are effectively managed.

Proficiency in using electronic systems for maintaining Service User records.

Ability to analyse data, produce reports, and contribute to strategic service delivery.

Extensive knowledge of relevant legislation, codes of practice, and government initiatives in social work.

Understanding of equality and diversity issues in service delivery.

Proficiency in a range of IT packages.
