We are currently working with an extremely reputable Family Assessment Centre who are dedicated to providing comprehensive support and assessment services for families.

The Service are looking to recruit a Social Work Manager. As the Social Work Manager, you will work closely with the Registered Manager and the Assistant Manager, deputising in their absence. You will have responsibility for staff management and supervision, for the Social Work staff, which will include overall quality assurance of parenting assessments and all review reports. You will also have responsibility for the progression and quality of all the final parenting assessments, that are submitted to the local authorities.

Key Responsibilities:

Managing and supervising an established social work team alongside the Registered Manager of the Family Centre, quality assuring all review reports, and overseeing social work practice and decision making, maintaining the high standards of practice that the service prides itself on.

· To lead the team, sharing social work knowledge and skills in completing holistic and individualised assessments.

· Effective assessment skills relating to work with children and families.

· To liaise with professionals and represent the organisation to prospective referrers including Local Authorities, Solicitors, Guardians and Courts

· To monitor and evaluate all aspects of the work with families to ensure quality performance in compliance with policies and procedures.

· To assist and support the Registered Manager and Assistant Manager in the day to day running of the centre, this will mean being part of the on-call system.

· Understand, manage, and carry out risk assessments.

· To actively promote the services commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children, young people, and vulnerable adults at a level appropriate to this group.

· To help create and develop a safe, structured, learning environment which is based on the values and standards of the service.

· To look for opportunities to improve existing practices.

· To establish and maintain appropriate liaisons with other professionals.

· To ensure a high standard of Social Work practice.

· To ensure and promote good standard of childcare and general house management.

· To work with the management team to ensure safer recruitment protocols.

· To keep abreast of current legislation, guidance, research and theory and protocols which informs our work.

· To work within the framework for the assessment of children in need and their families.

· Teaching parenting skills and practices.

· To monitor and evaluate the effects of any such intervention on a child's emotional and physical wellbeing

Essential Skills, Knowledge and Requirements:

· A Social Work qualification and registration with Social Work England.

· A minimum of 3 years post qualifying experience; and have worked in a children's social work-related role and /or child social care, such as an Assessment Team or Looked After Children’s Team.

· Good knowledge of safeguarding, assessment, and risk management and established experience of completing parenting capacity and holistic whole family assessments.

· Have a secure knowledge of childcare law, government guidance and current social work theory and research.

· At?least 2 years in a role supervising and managing staff.

· Experience of partnership working with families and external agencies.

· Ability to communicate respectfully and effectively in complex or challenging situations with families.

· Have excellent report writing skills, and the ability to effectively manage your own workload.

· You must have experience of quality assuring and overseeing robust assessment and finalising the assessment process, making decisive evidence-based recommendations with the support of the assessment team.

· Ability to work with staff and managers at all levels and communicate clearly and effectively.

· Have an approach that is reflective, professional, and creative.

Preferable Skills and Knowledge:

· Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, or a willingness to work towards achieving this qualification.

· Experience of Parenting Assessment Manual (PAM’s) or Parent Assess approach for assessing parents.

· Practice Educator Program qualification and experience of student placements.

· Experience of Ofsted Inspections and relevant frameworks.
