Job Title: Signalling Engineer

Location: Gosforth

Salary: Circa £35,420 per annum

Key Responsibilities for Signalling Engineer:

Fault Response:

  • Assist in testing, fault finding, and rectification of signalling and associated systems.
  • Undertake signal maintenance testing and initial investigation of operational incidents.
  • Lead fault rectification of Point Heater Systems.

Planned Maintenance:

  • Perform planned preventative maintenance of signalling and associated equipment.
  • Ensure functionality of point heating equipment between October and April.

Installation:

  • Undertake installation work for new, renewed, and modified signalling systems.
  • Lead installation of point heating equipment.
  • Refurbish and repair equipment, including re-testing.
  • Lead refurbishment and repairs of Point Heating equipment.

Technical Compliance:

  • Ensure compliance with Group Technical Standards and procedures.

Health & Safety:

  • Adhere to company's Health & Safety Policy and procedures.

Administration:

  • Complete documentation associated with fault finding, maintenance, and installation.
  • Utilise group maintenance manager system for information management.

Undertake Minor Renewals:

  • Perform minor renewal duties within the Signalling & Point Care Asset Management portfolio.

Essential for Signalling Engineer:

  • Level 3 qualification or apprenticeship in Electrical Engineering.
  • Experience in fault finding in Electrical & Mechanical systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and oral communication skills.
  • Excellent computer literacy skills.
  • Hold a current UK driving licence.

Desirable for Signalling Engineer:

  • Recognised Electrical Installation qualification or equivalent Railway Industry knowledge.
  • Previous experience in Railway Signalling or equivalent Industry vocational skills.
  • Knowledge of Railway Signalling Standards.
  • Experience of working altering shift patterns.
  • Experience of Computer Asset Management Systems.
  • Health & Safety Qualification at IOSH level or commitment to work towards one.
  • Certified competence in Nexus Safety Critical Competence of Worksite Controller.
