Ended

Situated in over 85 acres of open downland and mixed woodland on the edge of the Chilterns Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty, Hudnall Park provides residential and day educational courses to organised groups. Part of Hertfordshire’s Services for Young People, the Centre is highly regarded for its standards of excellence and professionalism in delivering high quality outdoor learning experiences.

A high level of demand for the coming season has created a great opportunity for enthusiastic and motivated individuals to increase our small team of instructors at Hudnall Park residential activities centre.

These posts are on variable hours contracts to suit people with other, existing, commitments.

Working hours are typically between 08:30 and 17:00 Monday to Friday, with an emphasis on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays, although there may be opportunities for some evening work between 18:00 and 21:00 and on occasional weekends.

Applicants should have an understanding of how outdoor education can be used to develop children’s and young people’s personal and social skills, and believe in the value of outdoor learning.

Skill/experience in any of the land-based activities offered by the centre will be an advantage: - archery, bushcraft, climbing, low ropes, mountain-biking, problem-solving and team-building activities, orienteering or navigation, along with an interest or experience in teaching or leading natural history and environmental activities.

Preference will be given to applicants holding at least one leadership/instructor award in the following: -

  • Archery (GNAS/Archery GB),
  • Mountain-biking (MIAS/MBLA L1)
  • Navigation (Lowland/Countryside Leader or BEL)

This should be supported by a current First Aid qualification that will last for the duration of the appointment.

Successful applicants will spend most of their time delivering outcome-based sessions to visiting groups but will also be expected to assist in maintaining equipment and developing resources with other staff to support the delivery of the activities on offer.
