£450 daily Umbrella - INSIDE IR35

Our Care Connected (Part of the Sussex Health and Care Partnership Digital Programme) gives health and care professionals and local people in Sussex shared online access to records and data through three digital enabler projects:

  • Plexus, an e-record platform for GPs, hospital and community teams
  • My Health and Care Record, to help people stay well and manage a condition or treatment
  • Sussex Integrated Dataset, used to analyse how local health and care services can be better designed and run

Our Care Connected supports the public and practitioners as expert partners in the development and co-design of digital health and care services in Sussex.

This is an exciting opportunity to be part of the Sussex Health and Care Partnership's digital enabler programme Our Care Connected (OCC). You will have the opportunity to hold a key role in driving user-centric implementation of existing transformation plans as well as continual improvement working in partnership with health and care organisations across the Sussex Integrated Care System (ICS).

As a service designer, you will be responsible for planning and leading the delivery of service design activity across given projects, supporting the delivery of the Our Care Connected programme objectives as well as at a wider ICS level.

As a service design you will be expected to be able to design the end-to-end journey of a service, ensuring that the end users are able to complete their goal confidently and efficiently. Within this role your work will likely involve the creation of, or change to, transactions, products, and content across both digital and offline channels, taking into consideration health and digital equalities.

The successful candidate is expected to have strong user centred design knowledge, service designer experience and have a working knowledge of Health and care and/ or Digital programmes. Being confident in effective stakeholder management, planning, delivery, reporting and monitoring of user centred design projects.

The post holder is required to work in a flexible way and undertake any other duties reasonably requested by line management which are commensurate with the grade and level of responsibility of this post.

As a service designer, you will:

  • Promote User Centred Design and Agile methodologies.
  • Work in a fast-paced, evolving environment and must be able to use an iterative method and flexible approach to enable rapid delivery where necessary.
  • Working with data and qualitative insight, through collaboration with frontline staff, managers and the public, to design solutions and strategic propositions
  • Ensure that the team knows what each other is working on and how this relates to practical objectives and user needs.
  • Be able to effectively manage stakeholder expectations
  • Be trusted to make good, informed decisions founded on user needs
  • Working with service managers and programme directors, initiate and contribute to the development of design concepts
  • Interpret evidence-based research and incorporate this into your work
  • Explain design decisions, work collaboratively, and have responsibility for a service
  • Independently identify user issues and important needs
  • Help set direction and embed good practice within team
  • Designing, building, and setting usability tests for service and product prototypes, working from sketches into quick prototypes that can be iterated with feedback
  • Design with technologists and developers to take a service live
