This is a great opportunity to showcase your technical underwriting skills to manage a robust book of longstanding relations! As much as managing the existing business, you will be seeking an exciting opportunity to forge new relationships during a period of expected growth.

You will be entirely office-based in our client's wonderful corporate office in Manchester, reporting to the Head of Underwriting, you will support the team by analysing, reviewing, and managing the insurance element of a diverse set of responsibilities. Utilising your knowledge of legal expenses and attention to detail, you’ll be a confident decision-maker.

Your responsibilities include:

In this highly analytical role, you will have the skill and expertise to manage a strong book of existing business worth £25million. You will analyse, evaluate, and make underwriting decisions in line with underwriting guidelines and recommendations, coordinating with analysts and other underwriting staff.

  • Assist the Head of Underwriting in the procurement of New Business opportunities.
  • Review and analyse new insurance applications for risk exposure and compliance within underwriting guidelines.
  • Meet and negotiate with clients and brokers to build relationships and to develop new and renewal business.
  • Review contract wordings to ensure that compliance is maintained.
  • Responsible for underwriting document filings, accuracy of data entries to systems and contract integrity for accounts underwritten.
  • Establish appropriate internal underwriting procedures and criteria to control risk.

What are we looking for?

  • Knowledge of Property, Casualty lines, Health, and Protection, Employment Legal Expenses.
  • Discernment and ability to assess a situation objectively.
  • 3 years+ of proven experience in LEI Underwriting (highly desirable)
  • Attention to detail and sound report-writing and negotiation skills.
  • Desirable skills in insurance liability, and legal expenses.
