SENIOR TECHNICAL ARCHITECT - 12 MONTH CONTRACT - OUTSIDE IR35

Loriens leading Public sector client is looking to on board a highly skilled Technical Architect to join their team on an initial 12 month contract, on a hybrid basis in Edinburgh.


Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Architecture Planning and Governance:

  • Foster coherence and currency in Technology and Application Reference Architecture, ensuring that it aligns with business objectives and industry standards.
  • Engage in Enterprise Architecture modelling concerning lifecycle, supportability, and integration of infrastructure and applications.
  • Develop and document architecture principles, policies, standards, and building blocks for infrastructure, applications, and integration domains.


Technology and Integration Roadmap Management:

  • Create, maintain, and evolve the 2 - 5 year roadmap for infrastructure, applications, and integration, along with all supporting architecture artifacts.
  • Identify gaps, overlaps, risks, and issues across the architecture landscape, proposing strategic initiatives to address them.


Resilience, Security, and Compliance Assurance:

  • Ensure that appropriate resilience and security measures are integrated into the existing and future infrastructure and application estate.
  • Provide technical delivery assurance to projects, programmes, and delivery labs, ensuring alignment with the established architecture principles, policies, standards, and roadmaps.


Technical Leadership and Advisory:

  • Provide technical leadership and assistance in managing and engaging suppliers.
  • Offer technical advice and solutions to business and architecture stakeholders, ensuring the forward requirements for integration the orginiationtion and with external partners are met.


Continuous Improvement and Innovation:

  • Lead the continuous improvement and evolution of architectural and integration capabilities to meet the strategic requirements of projects and programmes.
  • Challenge existing processes innovatively and strategically to improve efficiencies and outcomes.


Essential Criteria:

Technical Expertise:

  • 10+ years of experience in Infrastructure, Application Architecture, and Integration, working with a variety of technology systems in large-scale environments.
  • Expertise in LAN, WAN, voice, data, unified communication solutions, and network periphery security infrastructure.
  • Profound knowledge and experience in working within hybrid on-premise / cloud environments, especially with Microsoft Azure services (PaaS, iPaaS, IaaS).
  • Expertise in server infrastructure, storage technologies, virtualization of workloads using both VMware or Hyper-V, and implementing High-availability and Disaster Recovery solutions.


Architecture Knowledge:

  • Solid understanding of SOA design principles and patterns, Enterprise integration patterns, ESB architectures, and Web Services.
  • Experience with Microsoft .NET, J2EE, N-tier client-server solution architecture, and other relevant technologies.
  • Basic understanding of enterprise architecture frameworks and the role of architecture governance.


Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

  • Excellent organizational, communication, presentational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to manage complex, multi-stakeholder environments and public sector procurement processes and ITO environments.


Innovative Thinking:

  • Ability to think innovatively and strategically, with a penchant for challenging existing processes to improve efficiencies and outcomes.
