Job Title: Senior Support Worker - Children's Residential

Location: Duston, Northampton

Salary: Up to £34,320 per annum (including additional payment for sleep in's)

Hours: Working 1 day on shift 8am-11pm (plus sleep in at service) with 2 days off to follow on a rolling pattern. (Approx 40 hours per week)

Currently operating 8 homes across the midlands, with all facilities are rated 'Good' by Ofsted, reflecting the company's commitment to high standards of care.

What's expected of me as Senior Support worker?

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Senior Support Worker to join our client's team at a children's residential home. As a Senior Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in providing direct care and support to their young people, as well as assisting in the supervision and coordination of support staff to ensure the well-being and safety of our residents.

What are the key responsibilities as a Senior Support Worker?

Direct Care: Provide high-quality care and support to children and young people residing in the home, including assistance with daily living tasks, emotional support, and recreational activities, in accordance with individual care plans and best practice guidelines.

Supervision and Guidance: To work with the manger In the induction and to support and mentor support workers in their roles, providing guidance, direction, and feedback to ensure the delivery of effective and person-centred care to residents.

Care Planning: Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of individual care plans for residents, working collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams, families, and external professionals to ensure the holistic well-being and development of each child or young person.

Behaviour Management: Utilize positive behaviour management techniques and de-escalation strategies to support residents in managing challenging behaviours, promoting a safe and supportive living environment for all.

Record Keeping: Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of resident activities, progress, incidents, and interventions, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and organizational policies.

Communication: Foster open and effective communication with residents, colleagues, families, and external stakeholders, advocating for the needs and preferences of residents and promoting a culture of respect, empathy, and collaboration within the home.

Risk Assessment: Identify potential risks within the residential environment and implement appropriate measures to mitigate risks and ensure the safety and security of residents and staff.

Training and Development: Participate in training and development opportunities to enhance knowledge and skills in areas such as child development, trauma-informed care, safeguarding, and relevant legislation.

What are the minimum requirements as a Senior Support Worker?

  • NVQ Level 3: Caring for Children and Young People
  • Good Standard of written & spoken English that is sufficient enough to write records and reports.
  • Experience of working with young people, ahead approx. 12-17 who have challenging behaviours
  • Experienced of shift leading and supervising care staff
  • Completing LAC reports and attending external meetings
