Senior Software Engineer

CPS Group UK are delighted to be working with a global organisation to appoint a Senior Software Engineer to join their global entertainment technology business segment, on a contract (daily rate) basis.

Working as a key member of their Identity Platform Engineering team, which supports critical consumer facing access, security and identification services across their global platform, the Senior Software Engineer will be highly involved in tackling cutting edge issues that come with cloud-based infrastructure, platform resiliency requirements, security and data migrations at scale.

They will be key in creating Private API's and contributing to the design development, testing, deployment and support of stateful microservices and lambdas in a multi-region cloud environment.

This role will serve as a primary contributor within the team at it navigates the cutting-edge technology landscape and will serve as initiative leads and technical problem solvers.

Key Technologies (experience required with some/all of the following):

* SCALA
* JVM Languages (SCALA, JAVA, Kotlin)
* SCALA frameworks (CATS, CATS Effect, ZIO, http4s)
* AWS (or Azure / GCP)
* Infrastructure-as-a-code (IaaC)
* Lambdas & Microservices
* Kafka/AWS Kinesis
* OpenTelemetry/NewRelic/DataDog/AWS CloudWatch
* AWS CloudFormation/Terraform

Required Skills & Experience

* 5+ years of professional software development experience in highly scalable, distributed software components
* Strong knowledge of Scala frameworks (e.g. Cats, Cats Effect, ZIO and http4s)
* Proficiency in server-side Java Virtual Machine programming languages, preferably Scala
* Ability to build, design and support multi-region microservices and lambdas
* Proven experience of cloud application architecture and engineering, AWS is preferred
* Experience with large scale distributed system architecture
* Ability to build and run high-traffic and globally replicated systems
* Knowledge of common performance issues, as well as a working experience with logs, monitoring tools
* Knowledge of Software Development Lifecycle and Agile Development/Testing practices and methodologies
* Familiarity with CI/CD methodologies
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills and a strong teamwork ethic
* Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision as well as part of a cross-functional team
* Ability to lead small projects and platform initiatives
