Senior Practitioner (AMHP Qualified) - Emergency Duty Service

We are currently seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Practitioner (AMHP Qualified) to join our Emergency Duty Service team in Essex. As a Senior Practitioner, you will play a crucial role in providing immediate response and support to individuals and families in crisis situations. This is an exciting opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of vulnerable individuals and ensure their safety and well-being.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Respond promptly and effectively to emergency situations, including mental health crises, child protection concerns, and adult safeguarding issues.
  • Undertake comprehensive assessments to determine the level of risk and appropriate interventions required.
  • Make sound decisions and provide professional advice under pressure, ensuring the safety and welfare of individuals involved.
  • Work collaboratively with partner agencies, including the police, health services, and social care teams, to coordinate responses and develop effective support plans.
  • Assess and manage the mental health needs of individuals, ensuring appropriate mental health legislation is applied where necessary.
  • Provide consultation and guidance to less experienced staff members, offering support and mentoring to enhance their practice.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date case records, ensuring confidentiality and adherence to data protection regulations.
  • Participate in multi-agency meetings and contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures.
  • Support the team manager in service planning, performance monitoring, and quality assurance activities.
  • Keep abreast of legislative changes, research, and best practice in the field of mental health and emergency duty social work.
  • Uphold professional standards and ethical principles in all aspects of work, promoting anti-discriminatory practice and respect for diversity.

Requirements:

  • Qualified as an Approved Mental Health Professional (AMHP).
  • Relevant Qualifications and Registration with the relevant professional regulatory body. (Social Work England)
  • Experience working in emergency duty social work or mental health services.
  • Sound knowledge of relevant legislation, policies, and procedures, including Mental Health Act 1983 and Mental Capacity Act 2005.
