Senior Risk & Governance Underwriter: We have an exciting opportunity available for a Senior Risk & Governance Underwriter to join our Underwriting Risk & Governance team as part of the wider Technical Underwriting Delivery and Governance department. The Senior Risk & Governance Underwriter will work closely with many different areas of the business, and may also deal with external partners. They will be given responsibility for significant portions of our day-to-day governance and regulatory work, and will also be expected to be a role model to the wider team and department

Main Responsibilities as a Senior Risk & Governance Underwriter:

· Maintaining, through your own work, and that of your direct reports, a robust and efficient level of oversight of Ageas' products and the value they offer to our customers. This oversight will need to cover how products are designed, how they operate and are utilised, and how they are distributed to customers.

· As such you will be responsible for ensuring robust and well evidenced fair value assessments are completed at all stages of a product's lifecycle (which will encompass new product approval, significant change approval, and in-life review). These will need to be completed at a total product level, but also for individual cohorts of customers as appropriate.

· You will also be responsible for governing how these products are distributed to customers, and how distributors and co-manufacturers meet their own regulatory requirements, and the risk appetite of Ageas (including, but not limited to, remuneration).

· Recommending and setting appropriate actions to address (and potentially redress) concerns and improve customer outcomes. You will be responsible for the completion, or escalation, of actions. Actions may be internal, external, or a combination of the two, and can be investigative, corrective, or preventative in nature.

· Supporting, or leading (as appropriate), the completion of other regular and ad-hoc regulatory tasks.

· This will include yearly attestations and reviews, but may also include ad-hoc deep-dives and investigations, or regulator responses.

· Acting as one of several key representatives for UW with product stakeholders.

· Providing supportive line management to Risk & Governance Underwriter(s), creating and implementing appropriate development, coaching, and guidance. You will need to act as a leader and role model.

Skills and experience you need as a Senior Risk & Governance Underwriter:

· A good degree of numeracy, alongside analytical skills, and the ability to interpret and present data for a wide audience.

· Excellent skills in explaining and reporting, both internally and externally, the interpretation of regulatory requirements and Ageas' response to these.

· Excellent skills in explaining recommendations and actions to those that need to implement them

· Motivational, with good leadership and influencing skills.

· Proactive, innovative, self-motivating and largely self-reliant.

· Good risk evaluation skills.

· Confident decision maker who exhibits a willingness to take responsibility.

· Able to prioritise work to meet deadlines.

· An understanding of the regulatory environment of the insurance market (especially Consumer Duty and PROD) and what may impact Ageas' ability to meet its requirements.

· An understanding of insurance products and their distribution, including how products designed, sold, and administered, and the relationship between a distributor and manufacturer.
