Senior Residential Care Worker
  • Location: Marwood, Barnard Castle, DL12 / Staindrop, Darlington, DL2
  • Job Type: Full-time (150 hours per month on a 3-week rolling rota)
  • Salary: Competitive

We are looking for a dedicated Senior Residential Care Worker to join our team and provide quality care to young people with emotional and behavioural difficulties. This role is based in a homely environment where you will be actively promoting the rights of young people and assisting them to achieve their full potential. The successful candidate will take a lead role during shifts, guiding and supporting other staff members, and ensuring adherence to our policies and procedures.

Day to Day of the role:
  • Lead the care planning process to achieve outlined outcomes for each young person.
  • Safeguard the welfare of young people and take a lead role in protecting them from harm.
  • Work in partnership with young people, their families, social workers, and other service providers.
  • Maintain professional standards in line with company policies, legislation, and good practice.
  • Communicate effectively within the team, providing guidance and support to colleagues.
  • Complete administrative tasks and ensure all documentation is kept to a high standard.
  • Promote equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Engage in continuous professional development.
  • Uphold health and safety policies and take initiative in maintaining the home environment.
  • Take on individual responsibilities and potentially become a key worker for a young person.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Good academic achievement in numeracy and literacy (GCSE Grade A-C in maths and English) or equivalent.
  • Possess Level 3 Diploma for the Children and Young People’s Workforce and willingness to work towards a leadership or management qualification.
  • At least 2 years’ experience of working with children and young people in a residential setting in the last 5 years.
  • Good understanding of child development and knowledge of relevant legislation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Commitment to equal opportunities and anti-discriminatory practice.
  • Good interpersonal skills and the ability to engage with staff and young people on all levels.
  • Full UK driving licence and access to a vehicle due to the job role and location.
