I'm currently recruiting for a skilled and experienced Senior Quantity Surveyor to join a team on a freelance basis to work on a prominent highways scheme in Hampshire. As a Senior Quantity Surveyor, you will play a key role in managing the financial aspects of the project, ensuring cost efficiency, accuracy, and compliance with contractual obligations.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage all financial aspects of the highways scheme, including cost estimation, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Conduct thorough cost analysis and risk assessment to identify potential savings and areas for improvement.
  • Prepare tender documents, contracts, and procurement strategies in collaboration with the project team.
  • Monitor and control project costs, ensuring adherence to budgets and timelines.
  • Assess and manage variations, claims, and disputes, ensuring fair and timely resolution.
  • Provide expert advice and guidance on contractual matters to the project team and stakeholders.
  • Collaborate with subcontractors, suppliers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
  • Maintain accurate records and documentation in compliance with industry standards and regulations.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, or related field.
  • Proven experience as a Quantity Surveyor, with a focus on highways or infrastructure projects.
  • Extensive knowledge of construction contracts, procurement methods, and cost management principles.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to make sound decisions under pressure.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proficiency in relevant software tools, such as Microsoft Excel, CostX, and CCS Candy.
  • Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g., RICS) is desirable.
