Interim Senior Press Officer - Local Government

Role Description

This is a full-time hybrid role, located in London with flexibility for hybrid working, paying circa £200/day (via umbrella) must be able to commit to 1/2 days on site.

The successful candidate will have the responsibility of managing media relations for the council and will be responsible for handling press inquiries and releasing information to the public. The Interim Press Officer will also be responsible for creating press releases, setting up interviews, and developing effective media strategies.

Experience Needed

- Experience working in a communications, public relations, or media relations role within a local government setting
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to write press releases and other communication materials
- Strong interpersonal and networking skills with the ability to build and maintain positive relationships with stakeholders

- Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines
- Demonstrable experience of dealing with local, regional, and national media outlets and handling both proactive and reactive media inquiries
- Knowledge of local government, public policy, and legal issues
- Experience using digital media to communicate with stakeholders
