Overview:

We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Power Systems Engineer to work for our client across their brand-new facility in Birmingham. This is an exciting role that will be working as part of the Product Development Team and Reporting to the COO working on developing a Hyper Rapid DC charging solution for a range of commercial Vehicles.

This is huge opportunity to be part of our clients growing team and have the opportunity to lead on the design and development of AC and DC charging systems, with a capacity to charge simultaneously multiple vehicles with up to 1MW of power.

This role will lead on electrical product design, its testing and compliance to UK & International standards, and you will be pivotal in electrical design, power distribution, and systems engineering. This role will work alongside a Senior Software Design Engineer in the creation of the charging system.

Key Work Activities:

  • Responsibilities include for designing the power system architecture.
  • Validating the electrical design, electrical engineering, development, and execution of test plans through to product type approval.
  • Proficient in simulation tools such as Matlab, Ansys for use in verification of the power system design would be advantageous.
  • Strong communication and project management skills.
  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • Membership of a Professional Engineering society is a plus.

What credential are we ideally looking for:

  • Impressive track record and skills / experience from working in or with a power system product supplier bring new innovations to market.
  • Experience of working in a SME would be desirable, highly collaborative, able to support the development of technology – product – market roadmaps, familiar and a keen interest in areas of low carbon energy technology – services, must be numerate with a strong analytical and problem-solving ability.
  • Educate to degree level or equivalent.
  • Strong presentation and communication skills, ability to excel in a rapidly developing fast paced organisation environment, able to work to project timelines with limited supervision.
  • Comfortable dealing with ambiguity and ability to work effectively in line with changing priorities, desire to challenge the status quo.
