Role:

We are seeking a skilled and innovative Senior Power Electronics Engineer to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in designing, developing, and optimising power electronics systems specifically tailored for low voltage but high current battery-powered applications. This role will involve working on various aspects of high current DC power systems and other related components, with a focus on efficiency, reliability, and performance.

Responsibilities:
  • Design and develop power electronics systems to control, switch, and manage high-power components of our system.
  • Utilise simulation tools for circuit analysis and optimisation to achieve high efficiency and reliability.
  • Select suitable components, including power semiconductors, passive components, and magnetics, considering the specific requirements and constraints of our electrical systems.
  • Design multilayer PCBs (6+) with a focus on thermal management, compactness, and manufacturability in mind.
  • Prototype, build, and test power electronics hardware, conducting rigorous functional tests, reliability assessments, and performance evaluations.
  • Collaborate closely with cross-functional teams, including electrical engineers, mechanical engineers, and firmware engineers, to integrate power electronics systems into our products or systems.
  • Provide technical expertise and support to team members, contributing to the continuous improvement of engineering practices and processes.
Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Electronics, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in designing and developing high-current, high-power electronics systems for battery-powered applications.
  • Proficiency in circuit simulation and analysis tools.
  • Hands-on experience with PCB design and layout software (Altium Designer), with an emphasis on power electronics, EMI/EMC, and manufacturability.
  • Strong understanding of power semiconductor devices such as MOSFETs, IGBTs, and diodes.
  • Experience with thermal management techniques.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Effective communication skills with the ability to articulate technical concepts and ideas clearly.
Preferred Skills:
  • Experience with digital control techniques for power electronics systems in battery-powered applications.
  • Knowledge of electric vehicle (EV) powertrain systems and their associated power electronics components.
  • Experience working with 48V battery systems and motor control.
