This is supporting a London Council on a temporary basis for an initial 3 months but may get extended. Due to internal movements the authority now need an interim Senior Pensions Officer to hit the ground running.
As a Senior Pensions Officer you will be responsible for:
Ensuring monthly reporting is run for new starters and data interfaced to Altair. Maintaining and improving the pensions system, also responsible for monthly AVC reporting and reconciliation.
To ensure that managers and staff of the Council and other scheme employers are advised on pension issues, including entitlements, benefits, pensionable pay, redundancy estimates and regulations and to draft responses and collate information to complex member letters/emails of member complaints.
To interpret and apply pension scheme regulations and HMRC legislation and take account of the Council's discretionary powers in making recommendations. This includes pension adjustments, payment increases, and review of individual cases.
Successful candidates will have significant Local Government Pension Scheme experience and have a good understanding of Altair systems. Previous experience of working in a large finance function is desirable.
