Cedar are partnering with a local authority based in the South East to recruit a Senior Network Engineer for a 4-month contract with an immediate start.

Rate: £225 - £275 per day (Inside IR35)

Working pattern: primarily home based with occasional travel to site.

The main purpose of the role will be to assist in the implementation of new internet access and WAN services for our client, comprising of the following:

  • New Internet connections at 2 sites.
  • 2 short haul circuits between these sites with full redundancy.
  • Layer 2 switching to manage failover of Internet link to the other site should one fail.

Duties will include:

  • Assisting in the migration of current Internet and WAN connections to the new solution.
  • Renewing the Public Sector Network (PSN) certification.
  • Implementing a third-party solution for PSN for access to GCSX data.

The successful candidate will possess the below attributes and experience:

  • Previous experience in Local Government or NHS is desirable.
  • Firewall and router configuration skills (specifically Fortinet and Juniper).
  • Extensive knowledge of TCP/IP network design and implementation, including routing protocol OSPF and BGP.
  • Experience of the Public Sector Network (PSN) certification process.
  • Ability to manage third party suppliers such as BT.
  • Excellent documentation skills.
  • Experience of cutting over networks from old to new services.
