Reporting to the Claims Manager, you will be responsible for providing full claims handling activities in respect of all claims emanating from the Medical Malpractice Underwriting portfolio. This book of business includes Italian Med-Mal, including both open market and binders, French Med-Mal, Italian clinic trials, and also some limited UK and International Medical Malpractice claims (i.e. Australia, Israel).
Applicants should have prior Medical Malpractice claims handling experience and ideally a good knowledge of ECF. Italian language skills would be highly desirable.
Duties and Responsibilities:
Review and analysis of claims when first presented to the Syndicate and/or Insurance Company.
Consider coverage for claim and take decision on coverage including referral to senior management where appropriate.
Where coverage, consider all aspects of the claim including liability and likely quantum, appoint adjusters, lawyers or other service providers from approved panel as appropriate and report internally on new claim where appropriate.
Set appropriate reserves at the earliest possible juncture.
Manage claim through its life to settlement on most favourable terms or, where appropriate, trial or other formal dispute resolution process.
Keep senior management abreast of all development on significant claims and refer all claims in accordance with referral criteria.
Act as referral point for junior team members.
Review ECF logs daily and keep up to date with reviewing and releasing daily ECF entries and sequences to ensure providing a timely service to brokers and insureds as well as complying with the Lloyd's minimum standards.
Process bordereaux approval and settlements via ECF.
