While things have moved on, the rise of modern concerns we all have about lead, fluoride and PFAS in our water from the tap, means they are more popular and relevant today than ever. Most people reading this we imagine will have a water filter in their house.

Our client is known for producing a high quality product that people can rely on and have done this for 200 years. They require a Senior Laboratory Technician to carry this on and ensure they are as effective today as they have ever been.

What you’ll do:

You will be working on raw material, intermediate and final product analysis. The work done in the lab will bring the standards of testing in line with NSF (National Sanitation Foundation) certification and ensuring the company claims are in line with their product performance.

You will be in a small team in a responsible role. The testing regime is bespoke to the product and in line with NSF so looks at material properties i.e. porosity, and performance in filtration of water.

You will be doing activities like challenge testing (deliberately adding in the components needing filtration, and checking performance) with E.coli or a chemical such as chlorine or PFAS and looking at data from the reduction test to draw conclusions.

You will be independently running testing projects to support new process and product developments, along with providing support on projects being run by the team.

You will be recording data and analysing trends, out of specification reporting, statistical trending and spotting issues with the product.

Key areas for the role will be:

  • Lab based routine and process/product development testing
  • Communicating with external testing laboratories
  • Assisting with certification and compliance applications and their maintenance
  • Data analysis and reporting using standard technical procedures
  • Assisting with the PV artwork change process and marketing copy checks
  • Assisting in trouble shooting and process control technical activities in all areas of the manufacturing process

Your background:

We are seeking a candidate with several years experience of laboratory work. You will be educated to at least A-level standard in chemistry, biology or related to ideally degree level.

We are seeking proficiency in MS Office, word, excel and outlook.

You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills.

You will be working in a key role in a small group of scientists supporting a large global NPD and manufacturing operation.

This will call for an ability to work under pressure, meet deadlines, maintaining a positive attitude/approach and providing exemplary service.

Ideally you will have knowledge of ceramics.

The ability to work independently, carry out assignments and work within prescribed routines (Standard Operating Procedures / SOP) is also key.
