Job Title: Senior Heat Transfer Engineer
Employment: Full-time
Location: Derby, UK

Are you a seasoned Heat Transfer Engineer looking for a new challenge? We're hiring for the position of Senior Heat Transfer Engineer to lead our thermal design process from concept to production. You'll play a crucial role in analysing new turbomachinery designs, updating existing ones, and ensuring compliance with heat transfer and secondary air system requirements. Additionally, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to the development and maintenance of our company's rules, tools, and methods.

Responsibilities:

  • Create, update, and maintain designs related to heat transfer & SAS.
  • Manage multiple complex projects simultaneously.
  • Ensure designs meet manufacturing, technical, and customer requirements.
  • Complete all design projects within budget and on time.
  • Develop and maintain rules, tools, and methods for Heat Transfer & SAS.
  • Communicate regularly with IPT leads and Program Engineering Managers.
  • Lead presentations in internal design reviews with the Chief Engineer's Office.
  • Maintain awareness of project schedules and customer deliverables.
  • Participate in regular meetings with HT Technical Focal Points and other HT engineers.
  • Provide regular Heat Transfer summary documents throughout the project duration.
  • Offer assistance, guidance, and mentoring to structure engineers.

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent in Aeronautical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or relevant technical field.
  • 10+ years of industry experience in thermal design of turbomachinery/combustion hardware and secondary air systems.
  • Proficiency in fundamental hand-calculations and understanding of design limitations.
  • Strong ability to manage compromise and characterize risk for balanced design solutions.
  • Knowledge of turbomachinery cycle performance drivers and trade factors.
  • Familiarity with cutting-edge technologies such as Conjugate CFD and CMC is desirable.
