If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you to join our team as a Senior Health and Safety Advisor.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Health and Safety Leadership: Provide strategic guidance and leadership in the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of health and safety policies, procedures, and practices across water projects.
  • Risk Management: Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, hazard identification, and safety audits to proactively identify potential risks and implement effective control measures to mitigate them.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant health and safety legislation, regulations, and industry standards, acting as a subject matter expert and advisor to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Training and Awareness: Develop and deliver health and safety training programs, toolbox talks, and inductions to enhance safety awareness, promote a positive safety culture, and empower workers to take ownership of their safety responsibilities.
  • Incident Investigation: Lead investigations into health and safety incidents, near misses, and accidents, identifying root causes, lessons learned, and corrective actions to prevent recurrence and improve safety performance.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Build and maintain positive relationships with clients, subcontractors, regulatory authorities, and other stakeholders, fostering collaboration and alignment on health and safety objectives.

Requirements:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety, Environmental Management, or related field.
  • NEBOSH Diploma or equivalent qualification in Occupational Health and Safety.
  • Chartered Membership of IOSH (CMIOSH) or working towards chartered status.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in health and safety management roles within the civil engineering or construction industry, with a focus on water projects preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of health and safety legislation, regulations, and best practices relevant to the construction and water sectors.
  • Strong leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence and engage stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven track record of implementing effective health and safety management systems, driving continuous improvement, and achieving positive safety outcomes.
  • Ability to work independently, manage competing priorities, and make sound decisions under pressure.
