What is the role?

As a Group Accountant, you'll play a crucial role in overseeing all internal and external consolidated statutory reporting for our multi-billion turnover business. Reporting to the Head of Statutory Reporting, you'll lead the Group consolidation process and ensure compliance with accounting standards and regulatory requirements.

The ideal candidate for this role will possess a robust technical reporting background, ideally gained within a practice (audit) environment. We're seeking individuals with a keen understanding of accounting standards and regulations, gained through hands-on experience in navigating complex financial reporting scenarios. Candidates with a proven track record of delivering accurate and timely financial statements, coupled with the ability to effectively communicate financial insights, will excel in this position.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the Group consolidation of a c£5 billion turnover business, spanning divisions globally. This involves providing comprehensive variance analysis, offering guidance on accounting treatments, and meticulously reconciling foreign exchange transactions.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives for Group consolidation processes, enhancing both central and divisional operations while integrating newly acquired entities.
  • Lead the development and delivery of quarterly consolidated balance sheet and cash flow models, ensuring accuracy and alignment with strategic objectives.
  • Manage the accounting and statutory integration of new acquisitions, overseeing the IFRS 3 fair value exercise, monthly reporting cycles, and alignment of accounting policies.
  • Direct the reporting and reconciliation of Group-level capital expenditures, encompassing £500 million of fixed assets and £6 billion of intangible assets, with thorough commentary and analysis.
  • Provide oversight of divisional IFRS 16 accounting standards, offering support and guidance on related accounting queries.
  • Spearhead the implementation of a new Group reporting framework to enhance discipline and transparency in reporting practices, encompassing both internal reporting packs and statutory disclosures.

Who are you?

  • Qualified Accountant (ACCA, ACA), ideally with experience in a top-tier audit firm.
  • Degree level education or equivalent professional experience.
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and influencing skills.
  • Strong finance aptitude with a track record of delivering within committed timescales.
  • Resilience, problem-solving skills, and good judgment.
