Senior Structural Engineer

We are seeking a talented Senior Structural Engineer to join our dynamic team of engineers and CAD technicians. In this role, you will be responsible for conceptualizing and designing both permanent and temporary structures, with a focus on construction engineering projects involving bridges, tower systems, and complex structures. Additionally, you will play a crucial role in heavy lifting and moving operations on-site as required.

Main Responsibilities and Duties:

• Conceptual and detailed design of permanent and temporary structures, with a specialization in steel.
• Preparation of method statements for erection engineering.
• Design and specification of specialist equipment for heavy lifting and moving projects.
• Conduct static analyses of structures using structural analysis (FEA) computer programs.
• Prepare detailed calculations using Excel or manual methods.
• Create sketches and drawings using AutoCAD or manual techniques.
• Collaborate closely with the CAD team.
• Develop standard spreadsheet solutions suitable for Excel.
• Assist in managing the design office and provide leadership to team members.
• Participate in heavy lifting and moving operations on-site when necessary.

Qualifications and Experience:Essential:

• Chartered engineer or in the final stages of achieving chartered status (MICE or MIStructE).
• 5 to 10 years of post-graduate experience.
• Strong experience in analyzing and designing structures, particularly in steel.
• Proficiency in finite element analysis computer programs.
• Excellent IT skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, E-mail systems).
• Effective communication and presentation skills.
• Relevant site experience.
• Solid understanding of Eurocodes, particularly EN 1993.
• Positive team player with an innovative approach.

Preferable:

• Experience in designing temporary works, especially for heavy lifting and moving projects.
• Familiarity with hydraulic equipment design.
• Proficiency in computer drafting programs like AutoCAD.

Working Hours: Monday – Friday, 9 am to 5:30 pm.

Salary: £35,000 - £45,000 per annum (Open to negotiation)
