Aon is currently recruiting an Energy Risk Engineer to join our Aon Natural Resources Risk Engineering team (ANRE). The position will be home-based in the UK, and you will be part of the global Aon Natural Resources Engineering team.

The Energy Risk Engineer will be primarily responsible for developing and providing risk engineering consulting services to internal and external clients in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sectors; in addition, the role could also focus on Carbon Capture and Storage and / or the Hydrogen Economy sectors.

About the Role

As an Energy Risk Engineer some of your key responsibilities will involve;  

• For allocated clients, lead the client relationship, develop opportunities, and deliver client consultancy services, including underwriting surveys at client premises and insurance market reports.
• Develop and provide clients with training seminars/workshops, technical support, and advice.
• Build and manage relationship and collaborate closely with Aon practice groups to identify and develop new business opportunities worldwide.
• Collaborate closely with Aon broking colleagues to support the placement of client insurance programmes; represent ANRE in tenders and in sales presentations to prospects and markets.
• Build and maintain relationship with the London and international energy insurance engineering community to promote ANRE products and develop risk engineering programmes.
• Support the ANRE service, practice and product innovation programme, including data analytics.
• Identify and evaluate potential project risks at all phases of a project lifecycle and propose technical solutions
• Collaborate closely with other engineers within Aon globally, and assist in the development of industry leading technical procedures for the sector.

 About you

As an Energy Risk Engineer your skills and qualifications will ideally include;  

• Significant experience working in the Oil, Gas and Petrochemical sector for a technical consultancy or for an asset operator.  Preferably at a management or senior professional level in the refining sector, and with experience across a number of disciplines.
• A university degree in an appropriate subject area – likely to be Mechanical or Chemical Engineering.
• Chartered Engineer and member of an engineering institution, or working towards this.
• Good interpersonal skills at all levels of an organisation.
• Good presentational skills.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
• Ability to self-organise to deliver services and reports to company standards within agreed timescales.
• A willingness to undertake about 80 days of national and/or international travel per year.
• Flexibility and a willingness to operate outside of previous experience.
• Fluent spoken and written English.
• Commitment to continuous learning and professional development.

Preferred requirements are:

• Experience, or knowledge and a strong interest, in Carbon Capture and Storage and / or the Hydrogen Economy sectors.
• Experience in application of process safety principles
• Experience of working in different countries.
• Fluency in a second language, preferably Spanish.
