Senior Electrical Engineer

(Water Utilities sector)

Are you a highly experienced Electrical Engineer seeking a new challenge in an interesting and varied role?

This could suit a Chartered Electrical Engineer ideally with experience in Water Treatment facilities, utilities or other process industries.

This is a pivotal role offering a competitive salary and excellent benefits. Benefits include generous holiday and pension scheme. The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring that projects which require an electrical input are correctly defined, designed, installed, and completed.

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and oversee projects requiring electrical design input, including high voltage (HV) works.
  • Support the Principal Engineer/Designers/Project Managers to ensure designs meet project scope and stakeholder requirements.
  • Define the scope of survey works to align with design requirements.
  • Undertake design activities within your expertise, ensuring compliance with technical standards and operational efficiency.
  • Develop tender documentation and specifications in collaboration with Procurement.
  • Evaluate tender returns and quotations, providing specialist technical expertise.
  • Ensure site activities comply with design and specifications, offering site supervision where necessary.
  • Provide technical advice to Contractors and assist with post-construction snagging.
  • Prepare record documentation, including drawings, operation and maintenance manuals, and asset data updates.
  • Facilitate a smooth handover between Capital Delivery and Operations during commissioning and takeover.
  • Perform additional duties as required, in line with your main responsibilities.

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience in the design of electrical engineering works in an industrial setting.
  • Competency with BS7671 18th Edition and HV Authorised Person status.
  • Ability to act as a Technical Authority on electrical specifications and project compliance.
  • Proficiency with AutoCAD and related applications.
  • Knowledge of regulations and standards related to electrical design and construction.
  • Excellent communication skills and computer literacy, particularly with Word/Excel.
  • Ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
  • CDM knowledge and experience.
  • Electrical engineering degree or equivalent.
  • Chartered Engineer status with a relevant professional institution.

Ideally, you will also have:

  • Understanding of NEC4 contracts.
  • Knowledge of project management processes and procedures.
  • Experience with mechanical ICA and process plant design, installation, or maintenance.
  • Knowledge of the water industry and experience with potable water treatment.
  • Broad understanding of MEP design and construction standards.
