Senior Design Manager - Welwyn Garden City

Currently looking for an exceptional Senior Design Manager to oversee the design aspects of tenders and ongoing projects in Welwyn Garden City. This role entails a blend of project and office responsibilities, offering the opportunity for occasional remote work.

Our client is a leading Tier 1 contractor who are renowned for delivering national construction services to clientele in both the private and public sectors across diverse markets.

About The Role

You will operate within our Construction London & Home Counties division, where your responsibilities will include:

• Establishing, managing, and maintaining effective project design resources and team profiles during both bidding and project delivery phases.
• Leading and delivering a professional, comprehensive, and sustainable design service for clients, key partners, and suppliers throughout bidding and project delivery stages.
• Safely managing and coordinating the overall design process across RIBA design stages, challenging briefs, and introducing innovation and continuous improvement to project outcomes.
• Ensuring compliance with design management departmental procedures throughout bidding and delivery stages.
• Contributing to the development of design strategy and approach.
• Ensuring adherence to design briefs and scopes of service, and developing comprehensive scopes of service for key project stages.
• Programming and managing all design reviews and coordination meetings.
• Collaborating closely with discipline lead designers to deliver coordinated design solutions.
• Identifying the need for and contributing to design reviews.
• Ensuring that designs align with commercial and construction requirements and stay within budget allowances.

Ideally, You Will Have

• This is a leisure centre - so we need someone who worked on this type of project before
• Significant experience in the main contracting market, with a focus on Education, Life Sciences, Commercial, and Residential projects
• Experience with both single stage and two-stage tenders.
