SENIOR CREDIT RISK MANAGER

This is an exciting time to join this business as they are undergoing a major digital transformation with the credit risk function at the core of it. You will be looking to tailor new products to interesting and specific customers in terms of their analytics.

THE COMPANY

This company is undergoing a mortgage proposition transformation where they are aiming to service an under served segment of the market. They are looking to differentiate their company from usual mortgage lenders and create a unique name in the market.

THE ROLE

You will be doing the following daily:

  • Proactively discover partnership opportunities with innovative lenders through extensive market research and networking efforts.
  • Assess potential partners based on lending quality and anticipated profitability, providing recommendations to the Head of Deals and the Executive team, in accordance with approved risk appetite.
  • Develop and execute Credit Risk due diligence for potential partners, assisting in approval processes by creating and presenting documents to governance committees and the Board, under the guidance of the Head of Deals.
  • Take the lead in examining, negotiating, and finalising lending policies, including credit scoring and affordability thresholds.
  • Evaluate the underwriting practices of prospective partners, occasionally overseeing third-party testing.
  • Model potential lending balances, ensuring that contractual agreements incorporate key constraints.
  • Monitor and oversee the performance of inorganic lending portfolios, ensuring alignment with risk appetite and contractual parameters.
  • Review exceptional cases referred by partner underwriters.
  • Participate in the Retail Credit Risk Committee, with specific responsibility for the inorganic lending portfolio.

YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Experience in the 2nd line of Defence: producing and owning Lending Policy, Frameworks, and appetite statements.
  • Have in-depth knowledge of the different types of lending, PRA Rulebook, FCA Handbook, MCOB, Consumer Duty, and SS20/15.
  • Strong ability to influence stakeholders of all levels.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working on mortgage portfolios.
  • Experience with SAS is ideal.
