We are seeking a Senior Category Officer for our Government client based in Lowestoft. The role will be a mixture of remote and office based working, approx. 1 day per week at the office. The Senior Category Officer role will be an initial 12 month contract paying between £500 - £600/Day Inside IR35.

This role is inside IR35 - Due to the service of the role it will now be based on an Umbrella solution.

Role Profile:

• Research Vessel (RV) Cefas Endeavour is a 74m purpose-built platform which came into service in 2003 and has a planned end of life in 2033. The vessel undertakes scientific data collection surveys to support a range of scientific outcomes which enables the UK Government's to comply with its statutory and Ministerial signatory obligations. With RV Cefas Endeavour now reaching 20 years of service, and given the lead-time required for a refit or replacement of RV Cefas Endeavour.
• Prepare initial sourcing strategies, and contribute to business plans
• Plan and manage market engagement exercises
• Prepare pre-tender and tender documents in conjunction with customers
• Run tenders in accordance with Public Contract Regulations and managing evaluations
• Prepare recommendations for tender outcomes
• Prepare contract management documentation in conjunction with stakeholders
• Support development of key supplier relationships to deliver exceptional performance in cost, service and quality.
• Build and sustain effective relationships with internal customers.
• Provide day to day advice at the appropriate level on commercial issues and governance across the relevant category, taking full account of risk, exploiting commercial opportunities and maximising value of money and savings.
• Some roles will include line management responsibilities for Commercial Officers which includes setting objectives, managing performance and supporting learning and development
• Experience Delivering a big capital/infrastructure project
• Project/programme management skills
• Ship Building
• ATAMIS
• MCIPS
• Public sector background - desirable
