An award-winning international law firm is looking for an experienced business development professional to join their team in London or Birmingham to progress and implement the firm’s business development approach and activities.

The successful applicant will enjoy a varied role with excellent hybrid working arrangements and will be joining a firm with a highly supportive culture in which employees have the opportunity to flourish through training and personal development. You will work with the leadership of the Tech Sector and Commercial Litigation Team to agree and implement plans that deliver sustainable and profitable growth and will require excellent people skills and a keen eye to identify and support commercial opportunities. The Senior Business Development Manager will work alongside BD colleagues to ensure resources are managed effectively to achieve strategic objectives, whilst also working closely with international colleagues to align global objectives and pursue international opportunities together. Monitoring client and market developments, the financial performance of sectors and clients and tracking revenue source, you will act as a central knowledge resource for and advocate of the firm’s strategy and vision. You will develop strategic business plans and budgets, provide business development advice and proactive and practical support to partners and also lead on client strategy, including client focused growth, relationship management and client listening and feedback. It will be your responsibility to create and manage new sales and target pipelines, identifying and tracking cross-selling opportunities, and to work with the Bids Team on strategic bids to bring sector knowledge to bear. In addition, the role holder will be required to identify external events which are aligned to the firm’s strategies and will assist the corporate communications team to ensure events support client relationship development objectives and to create marketing collateral aligned to the Tech Sector strategy.

A self-motivated and positive team player with a commercial approach and a strong ability to think strategically, to put plans into action and to prioritise and manage demanding deadlines, the ideal candidate will have excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, and will enjoy dealing with and influencing senior people, particularly partners. It is essential that the Senior Business Development Manager has previous experience of the Tech sector and can demonstrate a successful track record in business development within a legal firm or other professional services environment.
