A fantastic senior level opportunity has arisen in one of the world’s leading law firms who require a highly experienced Senior Business Development Manager to proactively lead the development and implementation of the global Africa Group’s business strategy.

The firm has an ambitious global strategy which puts clients at the very heart of everything they do. They have a clear mandate centred on developing their existing strengths and relationships whilst increasing market share in new markets. The Marketing & Business Development function is seen as being pivotal in making the firm's strategy a reality. Marketing & Business Development teams work together with the firm's Global Business Units with a joint vision of being the global law firm of choice for the world’s leading businesses of today and tomorrow. Reporting to the Co-Heads of the Africa Group and the Director of Business Development & Strategic Marketing for Europe, the successful applicant will work in close collaboration with partners, associates and business development colleagues to develop and implement the Africa Group's strategy and to drive revenue growth. With supervisory responsibility for the Africa Business Development Manager, you will conduct competitor, client and marketplace analysis and support and co-ordinate high impact business development campaigns and Africa-focused initiatives, including on the ground initiatives. Collaborating with client managers and local BD teams to integrate the appropriate Africa client strategy into their plans, you will be expected to identify cross-selling opportunities, developing synergies with the global network and assisting with the preparation of panel proposals and RFPs. The Senior Business Development Manager will also lead the development of key messages and client-facing collateral, including capability statements, and provide support across the network on Africa-related pitches. On the marketing side, you will be required to identify opportunities to position and raise the profile of the Africa Group, coordinating with the global Communications & Marketing function to maximise media opportunities and publicity and ensuring the Group's priorities are integrated in marketing, PR and thought leadership campaigns. In addition, the role holder will take overall responsibility for Africa-related directory submissions and nominations for awards.

Proactive and results driven, with a global mindset and perspective, the ideal candidate will possess significant relevant experience gained whilst working in a similar position in a professional or financial services firm, preferably an international, matrix organisation, to include management exposure. An independent and highly organised team player, with both experience and a sound understanding of the African market and the opportunities and challenges it presents for the firm, the Senior Business Development Manager will possess an innovative approach, excellent project management capabilities and strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills. A proficiency in French will also be highly advantageous.
