Senior Biomedical Scientist - HISTOLOGY

Full Time 37.5 hours per week.

Salary: Competitive up to £50,000 DOE. With excellent benefits.

Role Summary:

You will assist the team and liaise with the Section Head on the day to day strategic management of the Histopathology Department. Use your skills, theory of Histology and knowledge to provide a high quality and effective Histopathology laboratory service.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • To comply with the code of practice of the Institute of Biomedical Science (IBMS) and HCPC and work consistently and efficiently.
  • Carry out unsupervised routine and complex investigations and analysis of tissue using specialised laboratory equipment.
  • Assist with the teaching of new staff.
  • Perform timely and accurate processing of samples and perform laboratory techniques in accordance with departmental approved SOPs.
  • Biopsy transfer/Embedding Microtomy Special staining techniques/ QC of slides at send out Performing Frozen section techniques.

Skills & Experience:

  • Essential: BSc Biomedical sciences or equivalent.
  • Essential: HCPC Registered.
  • Essential: Member of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences.
  • Essential: Experience working in Histopathology.
  • Desirable: MSc or working towards.
