Accelerate Teaching is seeking a dedicated Special Needs Teaching Assistant to join our team at a Secondary School in Wakefield. This is an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference in the lives of students with special educational needs.

Role Responsibilities:

  • Provide individualised support to students with special educational needs, helping them access the curriculum and achieve their learning goals.
  • Assist the class teacher in implementing tailored teaching strategies and interventions.
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment, promoting independence and self-confidence.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, parents, and external agencies to ensure the holistic development of each student.
  • Contribute to the creation and implementation of Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behaviour management strategies.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience working with students with special educational needs is essential.
  • A compassionate and patient approach to supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, colleagues, and parents.
  • Relevant qualifications or training in special educational needs support is desirable but not essential.
