Do you work in a Care, School, Nursery, Residential, Support, or Extra-curricular setting with children?

SEND Teaching Assistant required for St Helens Specialist Provision primary school - those from a care / support background will be accepted for application.

Working within SEND can provide a rewarding and challenging routine. Whilst it may not be for everybody, this could be a great career opportunity for you!

We are currently working in partnership with Lansbury Bridge SEND Sports College to recruit supportive and flexible teaching assistants to work within their EYFS / KS1 provision.

They are looking for the right person over qualifications to offer support (academic / emotional) in the school setting.

Hays can offer interview support and techniques to help you be successful in your application for this role. Successful candidates should be available for interview ASAP.

Your new company.

Lansbury believes in providing a safe, secure, and stimulating environment for pupils to gain independence and enrichment opportunities. Lansbury boasts impressive facilities for SEND and can provide a unique insight into resources available for SEND provision. They have a full-sized swimming pool, with a Hydrotherapy pool attached, as well as Sensory Gardens and a Sensory intervention base. Their "Little Lansbury" EYFS provision is separate from the main school and offers impressive areas for little learners to run around in and explore through their Forest schools Programme. They are seeking a member of staff who can bring a holistic view to development and build strong transferable skills which will service their students well both inside of education and beyond.

Your new role.

You will be required to immerse yourself in the EYFS / KS1 provision and offer an abridged curriculum in line with development and EHCP'S. Class sizes will be smaller with a higher ratio of adults to children to offer a more specialised support structure. You will work closely with the EYFS teams to incorporate enrichment opportunities in lessons. Some additional care and toileting may be required due to the age of the children. You will be provided with support to build your confidence in working with SEN pupils and make strong bonds with the children in your care. You will also help the class teacher assess pupils and make sure learning material is accessible to pupils to aid development and learning.

Experience in SEND additional need is not always necessary as the school will provide support for the right applicant. You will take part in training in line with the school CPD calendar.

What the School Offer:

  • Comparative salary with SEN allowance.
  • Impressive facilities for SEND needs.
  • Staff support for those who have worked with children outside of education.
  • Term time only + 5 inset days.
  • Friendly working environment with professional development opportunities.

What you will need to succeed.

  • A minimum of 30 days experience working with children in the past 3 years.
  • Ability to work 1:1 and in a group setting.
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Work constructively as part of a team.
  • Ability to work alongside children with SEN / behavioural needs.
  • Up-to-date DBS preferred.
