Position Overview:

As a SEND Support Worker, you will play a crucial role in supporting students with Autism Spectrum Condition as well as other Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), to thrive academically, socially, and emotionally. Working closely with an experienced SENCO and teaching staff, you will provide personalised support and guidance to students, helping them to access the curriculum, develop essential skills and build confidence.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide one-to-one and small group support to students with ASC, both in and out of the classroom.
  • Assist students with academic tasks, including reading, writing, and numeracy, adapting teaching methods to suit individual learning styles.
  • Implement strategies and interventions to support students' social communication, emotional regulation, and independence.
  • Collaborate with teachers and other professionals to develop and implement individualised education plans (IEPs) and behaviour support plans (BSPs).
  • Monitor student progress, behaviour, and well-being, and communicate effectively with parents and colleagues.

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working with individuals with Autism Spectrum Condition (ASC) and/or SEND in an educational or support setting is desirable.
  • A genuine passion for supporting individuals with SEND (special educational needs and disabilities) and a commitment to promoting their inclusion and well-being.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
  • Patience, empathy, and resilience in supporting students with diverse needs.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to respond effectively to the changing needs of students and situations.
