ASEND tuition supports SEND pupils and continues their learning while they cannot access school or don’t have a school place. We are looking for a teacher or tutor with experience of using signing and visuals to support a pupil with Special Needs in Tilbury to enhance his education.

What ASEND Tuition Is

We are looking for inspirational tutors to support children and young people with SEND in Thurrock. We support pupils with SEND who are not attending school for a number of reasons including medical needs, Mental Health issues, or lack of a suitable school place. We aim to prepare them for a return to mainstream or special school or continue their learning.

We tutor pupils of all ages face-to-face within school times, and in a range of settings including homes, schools, community centres and out in the community. Our tuition is completely pupil-focused and can target developing early learning, following an academic curriculum, providing emotional support or developing life skills. We need a wide range of tutors to support our pupils to meet their specific needs and ensure good progress. We work very hard to match each tutor with pupils who can most benefit from their skills and expertise.

About The Pupil

Our pupil, an incredible 8-year-old boy attending school in the morning, is seeking an enthusiastic and dedicated tutor to enhance his educational journey in the afternoons. He has medical conditions which have impacted what he can do and how well he can do them. This includes hearing impaired and communication barriers, and he requires a total communication approach involving visuals, signing, and gestural support.

Despite these hurdles, our pupil's zest for life remains unwavering. He is a happy child who loves to interact with familiar adults. His way of getting to know people is by gently touching their faces, a beautiful gesture that speaks volumes about his warm and loving nature. Our pupil enjoys playing in the kitchen, loves the thrill of racing cars and engaging in imaginative role plays. Cause and effect toys also capture his attention, providing endless opportunities for learning and exploration.

To maximise his potential, we are seeking a tutor who can establish a learning routine, both in collaboration with school and in the comfort of his home. Ideally, the perfect candidate will have experience in Early Years Foundation Skills within an SEN School or possess a strong background in special education needs. Familiarity with a total communication approach, including signs, pictures, and visuals (including Makaton), is vital for effective tutoring.

If you're passionate about making a real impact in a young boy's life, empowering him to achieve his fullest potential, then this opportunity is tailor-made for you.
