Classroom Support are working with a school for Autistic children in Sharpthorne. The age groups range from 4-19 years old.

The role itself is a fantastic opportunity to work as a Trainee Tutor at the school. Full training on the job will be provided and you will become a qualified Tutor.

The successful candidate will have a strong background in SEN, preferably having experience working with or supporting autistic people. The working hours are Monday to Friday 8.45am to 5.00pm, 4:30 finish on Fridays. This will be worked approx. 42 weeks a year across three terms.

About the role, you will be responsible for:

  • Providing direct teaching and support to our pupils following their own individual targets
  • Prepare your resources and plan for your sessions so you can deliver a smooth lesson focusing on communication and life skills using Applied Behavioural Analysis.
  • Support pupils when attending group sessions, participating in external activities such as swimming, horse riding or trampolining
  • Assisting in snack and lunch duties including supporting healthy food choices
  • Provide behavioural management support to help reduce behaviours
  • Track and log pupil progress throughout the day collaborating with the team if targets need to be adjusted.
  • Attend after school training and complete relevant paperwork
