SEN Teaching Assistant

Location: Newham

Pay: £94-104 per day

Hours: Full time | 8:30 - 4:00

Contract: Temp to Perm

LTF Recruitment are looking for an experienced SEN practitioner to work closely with a Year 6 child with behavioural issues in the morning, and across the school in the afternoon working with children with Autism. You will use your knowledge, skills and experience to model, advise and deliver effective strategies/ interventions aimed at improving outcomes for children and young people with complex communication and interaction needs in Key Stages 1 and 2. You will work at a variety of levels, using positive and inclusive approaches to provide support and advice to school staff, liaising with parents and engaging in direct work with children and young people, where appropriate. You would work closely with specialist teachers on the team.

Who is the ideal candidate?

  • Hold a relevant Teaching Assistant qualification, at level 2 or above.
  • Experience working with students with a range of Autism.
  • Enthusiastic and ability to adapt to difficult situations.
  • Calm, resilient and able to communicate well with young people.
  • Confident in your behaviour management skills.
  • Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis.

Key tasks will include but are not limited to:

  • Ensure that the safeguarding of children is paramount and fulfil a duty of care to children and young people.
  • Support the day to day running of classes across the school.
  • Set challenging expectations and promote self-esteem and independence, providing feedback to pupils in relation to progress and achievement under guidance of the teacher.
  • Establish professional and supportive relationships with pupils ensuring they feel safe.
