SEN Teaching Assistant

We are seeking experienced SEN Teaching Assistants for supply work in SEN schools across Harrogate and Knaresborough. This is an excellent opportunity for proactive individuals who have a passion for supporting students with special educational needs. Candidates with additional training such as Team Teach are highly favourable. There is potential for temporary supply roles to transition into full-time permanent positions for the right candidates.

Day-to-day of the role:
  • Provide tailored support to students with a range of special educational needs and disabilities within a classroom setting.
  • Work collaboratively with the classroom teacher to implement individual learning plans.
  • Assist in the preparation of teaching materials and learning environments.
  • Engage with students to facilitate their social and educational development.
  • Employ specialist skills, such as Team Teach techniques, to manage challenging behaviour when necessary.
  • Monitor and record student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents.
  • Adapt to various educational settings and requirements as needed in a supply role.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
  • Proven experience working within SEN settings.
  • A proactive approach to supporting learning and managing classroom behaviour.
  • Additional training such as Team Teach is highly favourable.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Flexibility to work in various schools and adapt to different SEN environments.
  • Commitment to professional development and a willingness to learn new skills.
