Job description

Job Overview:

We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team. As an SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with children, including those with autism, in an educational setting. Your role will involve providing support to the lead teacher and assisting in the implementation of educational programs.

Responsibilities of the SEN Teaching Assistant

  • Assist the lead teacher in planning and implementing educational activities for children
  • Provide one-on-one support to students with special needs, including those with autism
  • Help create a positive and inclusive learning environment
  • Assist with classroom management and behavior management strategies
  • Support students in their social and emotional development
  • Collaborate with the lead teacher to assess student progress and provide feedback to parents/guardians
  • Maintain accurate records of student performance and behavior

Experience:

  • Previous experience working with children, preferably in a special education or similar setting
  • Knowledge of working with individuals on the autism spectrum is highly desirable
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • Patience, empathy, and the ability to connect with children on an individual level
  • Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively as part of a team
  • Basic understanding of child development principles
