SEN Teaching Assistant

Long - Term teachers are working with a fantastic specialists school based in Taunton who support students from 8 to 18 who have specific learning needs. You will be working full time, Monday to Friday from 8:30am - 3:30pm, term time only.



About the school

This is an independent day and special school (DfE registered) which provides individualised and tailored programmes of studies drawing upon our three phase intent curriculum model.

They specialise in supporting students with a range of learning needs, including social, emotional, and mental health difficulties (SEMH), Autistic Spectrum Condition (ASC), including Asperger’s syndrome, ADHD, attachment related and associated behaviours that challenge. All of the students have an Educational Health Care Plan (EHCP) and require additional support to that which is provided in a mainstream setting.

We like to based the learning around what students enjoy, including art based activities in addition to outdoor learning.

About the role

You will be supporting within the classroom, coaxing students to enjoy their learning through creative, art based activities. There may be an opportunity to participate in extracurricular activities and school trips, as well as being able to implement your ideas into activity planning.

About you

It is essential you have at least 2 years experience working with children, in particular those with SEN. We are seeking an enthusiastic applicant, who has a genuine passion for working with children, and put their well being at the heart of everything. It is desirable that you have a Level 2 or 3 qualification, in addition to further qualifications regarding SEN, however this is not essential as training may be provided.
