Job Description:

Are you passionate about supporting students with special educational needs (SEN) to reach their full potential? We are seeking a dedicated SEN Teaching Assistant to join our team in Barnet. This role offers the opportunity to make a positive difference in the lives of students with diverse learning needs within a supportive and inclusive educational environment.

  • Key Responsibilities:

- Providing one-on-one and small group support to students with SEN, including those with autism, learning disabilities, and communication difficulties.
- Assisting the class teacher in implementing Educational Health Care Plans (EHCPs) and differentiated instruction to meet the specific needs of students.
- Supporting students in accessing the curriculum and participating fully in classroom activities and lessons.
- Promoting positive behavior and social skills development through positive reinforcement and tailored interventions.
- Collaborating with the SENCO (Special Educational Needs Coordinator) and other professionals to implement strategies and interventions to support student progress.
- Assisting with the monitoring and recording of student progress and providing feedback to the class teacher and SENCO.
- Building positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues to create a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

  • Requirements:

- Previous experience working as a SEN Teaching Assistant or in a similar role.
- A genuine passion for working with students with SEN and a commitment to their individual progress and well-being.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues.
- Patience, empathy, and the ability to adapt support strategies to meet the diverse needs of students.
- Flexibility and adaptability to work collaboratively in a dynamic educational setting.
- Willingness to undergo relevant training and professional development as required.
