SEN Teaching Assistant

Are you a passionate SEN TA looking for work? Or have experience working with learning difficulties and looking to go into a classroom role within a special school?

Reed Education are currently working with a local special needs school in Penarth, who are seeking SEN/PMLD teaching assistants that can not only bring a ‘can do’ attitude to the role, but encompass a positive, warm, and welcoming approach.

You will be supporting students between the ages of 3 -19 years old, with classes being based on ability and needs rather than age. The role would suit someone who loves working with children and loves to impart knowledge and support children to thrive. The role on offer includes supporting and teaching groups of pupils as well as 1:1 academic lessons across the curriculum.

We are looking for someone who truly wants to make a difference to young peoples lives, someone willing to be the difference and let the pupils fulfil their potential. Someone humble, patient, confident and enthusiastic but understands the needs for boundaries.

What are we looking for?

  • Friendly and patient nature
  • 'Can do' positive and confident attitude
  • Flexible and enthusiastic
  • High expectations of pupil engagement and achievements
  • Confident use of ICT
  • Dedicated to the children's development and learning
  • Excellent classroom practice

What is the role?

  • Mentoring specific, identified students.
  • Supporting students to develop coping strategies, enhance their motivation and raise their aspirations.
  • Managing individual behaviours and challenges in the classroom.
  • Supporting individual students to engage fully.

Who are we?

Reed Education are an established branch with more than 25 years education recruitment experience. Working with several local schools not only in Cardiff but across South Wales and Bristol, we are often inundated with job opportunities, either for temporary requirements or long-term positions.

What can we offer you?

  • A dedicated and experienced single point of contact.
  • Regular offers of work suited to your availability or a long-term full-time booking.
  • Advice, support and guidance on a day-to-day basis with any of your questions or concerns.
  • Competitive pay and benefits from a market leading recruitment agency.
  • Ongoing training, online and in person.

This is a full time temporary position starting from September, with a strong potential to go permanent from January. If you are interested in this opportunity, please submit an up to date CV detailing your experience and a member of the team will be in touch as soon as possible to discuss your application further.
